The Tuyugou Thousand-Buddha Grottoes at the end of the track. There are over 40 caves, carved into the soft rock surrounding the gully, amdist verdant vineyards and the rugged backdrop of the Flaming Mountains. Only nine caves still contain remains of Buddhist frescoes.

You can now climb up to the caves by a wooden stairway which was constructed recently. Before the area was opened to tourists three years ago, you need the help of ropes and ladders to reach the caves (by following the lead of the local children who make the climb barefoot!).
