The ancient stupas complex of Shwe Inn-Dein is nestled in a hill overlooking Inle Lake and located at the end of Inn-Dein creek. A Buddha image is enshrined in the main pagoda at the summit of the hill, surrounded by hundreds of ancient Shan-style stupas below, most of which are in ruins and overgrown with bushes. There are apparently no records of when the stupas were built or who built them, but some of the stupas are said to date from the 11th century and feature beautiful stone carvings.
