From the experience of taking all those pictures of animals in the zoo, I knew that to perfectly freeze the leaping motion of the cats, I should use a shutter speed of at least 1/500 sec, preferably. But the dim lighting conditions in the monastery ruled that out. The alternative was to use an external flash in high-speed synchronisation mode. But this would have altered the natural lighting of the setting, as well as certain to annoy the other photographers present. So I had no choice but to try my luck. To make matters worse for me, all the choice positions in the room for taking pictures of the performance were occupied by others, and I was forced to shoot from this angle with my camera pointing directly into the light streaming into the room from the window, a situation which my camera does not handle well at all. This shot is the best I could achieve at freezing the leaping motion of the cat, at 1/80 sec.
