JiuXiang is a scenic area of karst landscape and caves located about 90km from Kunming. It has the biggest cluster of karst caves in China with over 100 caves of different sizes. The whole scenic area is divided into 5 scenic sites (known as The Rainbow Bridge, Sanjiao Cave, Dashaba, Alulong and The Moon Lake), of which only the Rainbow Bridge is currently developed for tourism purposes. At the entrance to the developed Rainbow Bridge scenic site, you take a lift vertically down into a deep gorge, and walk through a series of huge caves featuring various highlights, including: the Lion Hall, the Twin Waterfalls, the Fairy's Paddy Fields, Village of the Yi Ethnic People, and the Bat Cave. The whole journey is about 4km long, and at the end of it, you have to take an 'open-air' cable-chair ride back to the entrance. The photo above shows the Fairy's Paddy Fields.
