Weeping willows are frequently planted beside water in Chinese garden design.
They are called weeping willows because of the drooping branches that give them a weeping appearance.
We were walking along the edge of the famed West Lake (西湖) at Hangzhou in China when I saw this weeping willow tree blowing in the wind, giving the feeling that it is laughing rather than weeping …
The scattering of early-blooming cherry blossoms in front of the weeping willow adds a nice touch to the picture.
The sun is actually blown-out in this photo, but what the heck, can’t be perfect all the time …
