This is the most magical sunrise I have seen so far. Taken at Bagan, Myanmar in Dec 06.

We had woken up at 5am and climbed to the top of one of the numerous temples that dot the Bagan landscape, to view the sunrise over Bagan.

At first, it seemed like there would be no sunrise. Dawn had actually broken, but the sun remained hidden behind the clouds. Then, at about 7:15am local time or so, the sun suddenly broke through the clouds, well above the horizon, and rays of light radiated from the sun in all directions towards us in a magical scene over the fantastic landscape of Bagan, as captured in the picture. Minutes later, a hot-air balloon would float past the scene, giving added dimension and intrigue to the image.

I thought this is a most approriate photo for me to post as a first image in my return to PBase - A New Dawn ...
