Breakfast Doodler

The Kindergarten year is coming to an end.
I have enjoyed my long mornings with Bug more
than I could ever express in words here.
This morning, she asked for waffles.
I had no waffles at home.
I asked her if she wanted to go get waffles and she said, "YES!".
So, off we went to the local diner.
We had a breakfast date which usually includes her green Doodle.
We played Animal Riddles, shared a waffle and she had scrapple.
Yes, I said scrapple!
Do you know what scrapple is?
Yes, my 6 year old loves scrapple!
I asked her today what her life dreams were.
Her instant response was, "Oh they're wild! I am with Papa. And we are in the jungle!"
Just a perfect breakfast date and it saddens me that she and I will be losing this chapter in our life.
I have enjoyed this stage of my Bug so much.
[Jen exits now to wipe tears]

I can feel the concentration - whatever she is doing it will be a masterpiece!
Great moments lie ahead for you both, I'm sure - she will keep you on your toes and keep you young. Enjoy!

A really nice portrait Jen. Less is more, and this is definitely less. You show exactly what's needed, nothing more, nothing less.

I can understand this feeling, but be sure that there will be other moments like that.

Hi Jen,
How wonderful! Thank you for sharing that with us.

Cindi, Dan, Wei, Ron, Kathy and the others have not left me much to say,
except that it's awesome what a response your photo and caption evoked. You and Bug willing be having breakfast dates for many years to come. Yeah--I've tasted scrapple, and for those of you who haven't, it doesn't taste like chicken!

But you'll always have the memories to look back and new memories to forge.

Don't cry Jen - Although I have never met you, I have followed you as a mother via your gallery(s) - I have often stopped and told myself (even my sister) what a terrific mother you must be.....your pictures and your words have revealed much. Keep doing what your are doing and your little Bug will only continue to develop into an amazing young lady and a best friend.

Don't worry Jen, there are so many more
moments you'll be enjoying along the way-
some good, some not so good, but more memorable
than you can ever imagine!! At least you realize
now that this is a good memory!!!!!!

And we've enjoyed watching her hands, legs, back, hair, and each eye grow as well!
However, don't fret. From experience, each step remains as special as the first.
The first day of "BIG" school and the experiences of that year are even better than kindergarten. And then it's "I'm no longer a first grader" and all the new experience that brings. I'm sure 3rd will have it's rewards as well. Dry the tear! The end of kindergarten is the least of your worries. Social Services will soon be after you for feeding your child scrapple! No human eats that stuff! <:)

Another day, another month, another year. Yes it goes by so quickly but then
that's the process we all go through in growing up and becoming what we
become as adults. Your little baby is becoming a grownup before your eyes
and you'll continue to have great times together while she does. Every smile and
every tear, shared together.
First grade will be a big step for her...and for you. Cherish the moment and
continue being the great mom you are through all life's big and little changes.

Don't cry! You have another 20 or so years yet to go before she flys off to start her own family! The older she gets the more she becomes like you. You have a beautiful soul and it shines through Audrey! She has your genes and you two will always be close, even when she becomes a pain in the rear teenager! Love ya!

This is such a sweet capture, Jen. A reminder of when a certain small boy played with his Etch-a-Sketch...
