We camped the first night in the beautiful Bridgeport Valley. Situated in California’s Eastern Sierra, historic Bridgeport Valley has changed little since cattlemen and miners discovered its grassy pastures in the 1850’s. Surrounded by vast National Forest lands, the Bridgeport region is an unspoiled recreational playground with pristine lakes, rivers, streams and hot springs. We would begin Day 2 by taking a side trip into the Sierras to relax by the beautiful Upper Twin Lake. Later in the day we traveled south along the Eastern Sierras to the town of Big Pine. Once in Big Pine we would gas up the truck and say goodbye to civilization as we headed east into a remote corner of Death Valley National Park. Our final destination was the magnificent Eureka Sand Dunes hidden away in the desolate Eureka Valley.
