May 24, 2006

Slowing down is often difficult...sometimes it is downright impossible.
Every so often, I try to tap the breaks a little...perhaps dropping down below the speed limit. Very rarely will I slam on the breaks to come to a complete stop. In real life, I actually got a ticket one night at 2 am for "rolling" through a stop sign. Anyway, the truth of that violation is still up for debate.
Renu brought up an interesting theory that perhaps all this perpetual motion in life may have more to do with running away from something rather than racing towards goals. Like the moving violation I described above, the jury is still out on this one. There may be some truth to it...possibly not. But, either way, it's worth a look...but not tonight.
Tonight, I did slam on the breaks. Took a lovely walk in the sun, dined on delicious sushi, and enjoyed one of my favorite movies. There was not a bit of work involved...and for once, that felt fine.
Thank you, Renu.

Renu took some photos with my camera today. Like an over-protective parent, the D2x rarely leaves the safety of my arms. Today, when Renu asked, I handed my "baby" over without hesitation. And, as a personal favor, this is the first photo included in the photo-a-day gallery not made by me. The following photo is copyright 2006 Renu Mehta, someone who is practically impossible to say "no" to.

Wow, I'm just surprised you let someone use the camera! ;-) With regards to the brakes thing, that is why I'm so looking forward to the climbing weekend coming up!!

Funny, I've said a lot worse things than 'no' to her :)
Nice shot and sentiment today - we probably all could benefit quite a bit from hit the breaks every now and then.

No kidding. I can't imagine saying "no" to her!
