I love Rodizio.
For those who are unfamiliar, Rodizio is Brazilian barbeque. All sorts of yummy stuff are placed on skewers and broiled over an open flame. I say "stuff" because it's not all meat. More on that later. The waiters walk around the restaurant in this parade of delectable treats. One just enjoys until one's belly no longer can tolerate anymore "enjoying".
I spent the evening sharing this wonderful meal with my friend, Jess. The night was filled with lovely conversation, refreshing sangria, and toasting...in honor of an exciting promotion and change in Jess's career. I'm very happy for Jess, and for my selfish reasons, happy that this change doesn't take her far away. I admire my friend for her initiative and drive as much as for her dedication to her family and friends (who she treats like family).
So, a Rodizio meal ends with one more grilled treat. It's not beef or chicken, lamb or pork. It's a pineapple which is not the first food I would think of placing over an open fire. But, it just may be the best part of the meal. It's a reward for being just a little bit adventurous. And the pineapple is that much sweeter when it's shared with good company.
Cheers.
