Medical education is constantly evolving.
New ways of learning are constantly being introduced. Some are effective...others fall a bit short. No matter how important it is to have compassion and caring, you can't ignore the need for technical skills in medicine.
We were introduced to ELVIS today who is designed to help teach doctors where to stick needles for botulinum toxin injections. ELVIS doesn't complain, or wince. He doesn't grow impatient or angry. He does give you consistent feedback without bias. Either the needle is in the right place or it is not.
All in all, it allows doctors to learn, practice and perfect technical skills without having to hurt another person...which, I believe, is an example of compassion.

Neat image. My first guess was that it was the prop department of a movie set.
