March-31-2005

They've called the S400 a "break-through" camera.
I started with the Elph series with the S100 years ago. It was trusty and traveled up countless climbs with me. I ultimately replaced it with the S400 which gave me the ability to shoot all day with one battery as well as travel with me to 30 meters below the sea (with the underwater housing, of course). Now it is gone. I love my SLR but I just can't seem to fit it into my pocket!
When I saw Alan's S400, I missed mine, feeling very guilty for doing it in by dropping it.
They say the best camera is the one you have with you. If that is true, then the S400 had been my "best camera" for a long time.

Be happy for the memories, because my friend failed me early on....http://www.pbase.com/healthiest/image/39437103

I feel the same way about my A70, which is quickly approaching middle age and getting cranky but still fits in the pocket and comes places the Rebel won't go.

You know Fu, my S400 is beat up, partially broken, and has the scars to prove it - but I trust and value it like a good friend. I'm sorry about your loss, but I have a feeling you'll be making a new friend soon with the SD500. That is when my S400 will feel more like an old, fat, lazy friend who doesn't like to do anything, is allergic to the outoors, and complains about leaving the house.
