March-18-2005

We made it out to Red Rocks, Nevada today. It was an early start and a long plane ride but the stop at the In-and-Out Burger once we got here made things much better. The initial gang from Jersey includes Matt, Edison, and Doyle. Our generous host here is my friend, Doug, and his trusty canine friend, Shadow.
This is Edison on a climb that I spotted on our last visit out. There wasn’t time to give it a try in October but I’ve been thinking about it for the last several months. Its difficulty rating is at the upper end of my ability which made me hungry for a try at it even more. I’m happy to report that with a lot of grunting (and a little whining to be honest) I was successful on it…which means it’s time to find another route to obsess over. That shouldn’t be hard since there are hundreds of climbs here that I still can’t do. Anyway, the Vietnamese noodles and Krispy Kreme donuts (the raspberry ones are almost as good as the classic honey-glazed) made me forget about the pain in my fingers for a little while.

P.S. There is a full gallery from this trip posted at http://www.pbase.com/jenfu/redrocksmarch2005 .
I hope for more climbs and culinary delights tomorrow.

I, personally, could not imagine ever being in this situation. Please keep the photos coming. Good luck on your climb.
