While the Metnawai eat a lot of pulp from sago palms (and grubs found in them), and have domestically raised pigs and chickens, they also do hunting with poisoned arrows and the women use nets to try to capture fish in the streams. As hunters, the men have tattoos of a bow and arrow on their chest and women have fishing nets tattooed on their backs. The women will put their catch into the tubes on their back to carry back to their camps. Today they didn't have much success- maybe the recent rains. They wear banana leaf skirts to try to not scare off the fish.
