It had just been on the same trail we were on a few minutes earlier.
Note the size of the bear print next to the human print behind it.
We were accompanied with a US Forest Service guide (visiting the island alone is not allowed-you must have a permit and be escorted) who had bear repellent spray and a loaded gun on his shoulder just in case.
