AAA Royals vs. Red Sox - October 20, 2014 @ Rhodes Field
Royals beat the Red Sox in dramatic walk off fashion in bottom of the 8th, 11-9! Great win Royals, Coach LaRue, Coach Peterson and all the families and helpers!
There were several points at which they could have given up, but our team refused to do so. Instead, the boys scrapped and fought until they finally emerged victorious.
And from Coach Petersen: As I continue to reflect on the game, I can think of specific contributions that each boy made to tonight's heart-stopping win:
Jake: a solid RBI single in the 2nd.
John: a crucial leadoff walk in the 8th to trigger the rally.
Nathan: rounding third to score the winning run.
Sean: a tone-setting scoreless frame as pitcher to start the game off on the right foot.
Nicholas: a rocket triple to drive in a run.
Byron: three dominating innings of pitching.
Alex: two huge innings of relief work in extra innings.
Connor: capping a five-run inning with a sharp RBI single.
Cairo: working the count and drawing an important walk in the fourth.
Eric: two tough, important catches while playing 2nd base to squelch Red Sox rallies.
Drew: a Gold Glove-quality play at 3rd to throw out a BoSox batter.
Carter: showing a flair for the dramatic with the 2-RBI walk-off line drive to center.
The boys made a memory tonight that will stay with them for a long time. We couldn't be more proud of them!
Note - due to the low light, I did not get as many pictures as I would normally capture during a full daylight game - the camera and long lens just do not focus well for split-second action when the light is not bright.
