Carolyn and I said goodbye to our GSP "Buddy" Printz shortly before 6pm on Friday, May 25, 2007. We adopted him from the GSP Rescue organization (thank you Karen Pratzner) over Memorial Day weekend back in 1995, so there is some symmetry in our losing him the same holiday weekend. Printz was a great dog, and we could not have asked for more. In the words of Karen Pratzner, "he was ready to go, but we never are".
We will miss Printz terribly, of course, but we knew it was time - he'd turned 16 on April 8, and had stopped eating and declined significantly during the week leading up to the 25th. We're choosing to think that Printz is now off swimming after the ducks or chasing, and perhaps catching, a sandpiper.
I still think of Printz often and love looking at his photo on the cover of the 2008 calendar. What a wonderful gentleman he was. I know Sophie Marie thought so! These are beautiful pics and I had not seen any of them before except the reunion shots. I particularly like "soaking up the sun" from 2005 and "on point" at the beach from 2002. You all were much missed at the Spring Reunion!

Printz was a great dog who lived the best years of his life with a wonderful, loving family. Jeff, you took fabulous pictures and will always have memories. As Karen said, "He was ready to go, but we never are." Jean Holz

I checked out the reunion pics and saw your comment about losing your GSP. We have had 9 over the years (two lived to be 15) and we currently have 3 (one of them a "great rescue" from Mid-Atlantic). Our sympathies are with you and your family and may you know that others have felt the same love and the same grief for these wonderful dogs that you had for Printz.
