VLL AAA Mariners @ Cubs - April 27, 2015, Nance Field at Yeonas Park
What a nail biter! Back and forth the whole game, the Mariners come from behind in the top of the 6th and hold off the Cubs with 3 outs in the bottom of the inning to win, 12-11!
From Coach Tim:
"Tonight was a really good 3A little league game all around. There were multiple plays by both teams, double plays, outfield caught flyballs, runners throwing out stealing at second and home and nicely hit balls through the infield and over the outfielders head. Ron Gecan the Cubs coach is a great coach and leader in VLL. I always enjoy playing with and against him. He exemplifies all that is good and right about VLL. There is a direct reflection with his assistant coaches and families.
I am very proud of our boys again tonight in how they battled, made a number plays, (fielding, batting and pitching) throughout the game. Ending a game on smooth everyday grounder and throw out to first in a one run game is a great feeling for all concerned. Thanks again for all the support, especially considering the Arctic like temperatures.
I continue to see good growth in each of the boys in various parts of the game. One of my main goals is for them to play and compete with out fear and restraint. It is a delicate balance that I am always searching for in my techniques with them. If we conquer the fear and pause I have no doubt that we will play with anyone on any day. We have a great group of boys."
