In this case, I had to rather do the opposite of lying on the ground. These sunflowers were enclosed behind a tall fence, and I actually had to hold my camera over my head to get the shots. Another reason I do love those rotating LCD screens!
Having been on photo tours with you, I realize that we see in some of the same ways. Both of us are likely to be laying on the ground trying to get just the right light and framing for our close-up shots.
I think you have succeeded so well here! You have really got the texture that is the basis of the beauty of the flower.
