Alexander III commissioned this church, with the strange name the Church of the Savior on the
Spilled Blood, as a memorial to his father, Alexander II, who was killed by an anarchist's bomb on this site in 1881. The architect took St. Basil's in Moscow as his inspiration. Jean and Natasha are prepared for rain, the first time in six days in a city with only 60 days of sunshine per year.
