Melnik, Bulgaria

Approaching Melnik, a prosperous town known for its red wine and tobacco
until the end of the Second Balkan War (1913), when the Greek population
was forcibly repatriated as the land was awarded to Bulgaria.
The remaining citizens (now fewer than 300) decided to rebrand themselves
as "the Smallest Village in Bulgaria" and have turned private homes into
restaurants, museums, and hotels.
