Dear Jean,
More than once, I've enjoyed the fine photographs you have presented here with some very succinct comments! You have been to some fascinating places and I like to think of you exploring the world with your intense curiosity and fine mind.
I often think of you and of your brother, Roger, and you both continue to be very present in my life. I'm still living in Philadelphia and playing and teaching the violin, and occasionally finding excuses to travel too. I wish you the best of cheer and wonder in the new year! Will be in NY for the Salgado exhibit tomorrow, which I'm quite excited about!

Jean,
I ran across your Iceland gallery this evening, while doing a google search for Madeleine, and thus (quite by accident) found your picture of Madeleine, Wiley, and Will on the island of Grimsey north of Iceland. That certainly brought back fond memories. Also, if I had known that you were going to be taking such wonderful pictures, I could have left my camera at home!
Based on some really wonderful pictures from all over the globe, I wonder where you are this day. (Right now, I am at home with Will who starts 10th grade tomorrow, Madeleine is on a business trip in St. Louis, and Wiley is just starting college this week in Tacoma.)
thanks again for posting all the lovely photos.
Rick

Jean - Many thanks for your kind words about my Norway gallery. Your Iceland favorites are wonderful and brought back memories of our visit to that beautiful country several years ago (unfortunately, in pre-digital days, so no pictures on Pbase). Enjoy Norway!

dear Jean:

I am at Michael's and saw your whole group of pictures. I loved the shot of the water tower's silhouette on the apartment house. I liked the desolation of the islands. The ruins of the houses reminded me of the ruins Vikings in New Foundland. As you know I have been reading about Moscow and many of the places in the photos make sense to me.

Just get a chance to work for several days in Moscow. Write an article and shoot some pictures for a magazine in China. Would you go together with me? Or just email me for the details.

I was cruising the Pbase photo site and came across your photos of Australia. I just spent three months in Sydney working on a documentary film and now that I'm back home in Toronto I lust for the joys of downunder!! Enjoyed your photos... very nicely composed and full of fond reminders of why I love Australia so much.

Awesome. There's gotta be a coffee table book in this! My favorites are "Katie the waitie" and the NZ mahjong ladies in their heavenly twins costumes. It doesn't get any better.

I've seen the preview, and look forward to the whole illustrated China trip. I'm certain all the photos will be as impressive as the sample displayed. Who knows? Perhaps you should combine them into a book. Don't try it just now, though; Hillary is going to get all the press. I must say, I seem to be all my travelling these days through your trips & photos. So I'll just mention that I'vwe always wanted to visit Vancouver but probably never will. Perhaps you'll go there and post some pix on your website...?

Hey Jean,

Haven't touched base with you for quite a while. Saw Mac last year up in Eugene. Mom just gave me your url. Sounds like you are still your perapatetic self. Great pixs. Looks like you've still got the lust for life.

Think of New York often. It is the place to be right now. Hope all is well with you and wish you the best of the season.

If you retrieve any of my comments, you'll see what a time I had: all of my original comments (save one) were lost. So I'll just say the photos and narratives are great; I enjoyed all three of my trips!
