The annual fall salmon run of Chinook Salmon was spectacular this year. These introduced salmon arrived here in the 1950's from west coast fisheries. Like all west coast species of salmon the fish die after spawning. To photographing the run I tried several techniques but the one that worked best was setting up the camera on a tripod. The camera was pre-focused at a spot I knew the salmon would favour. I used a remote control to fire the camera as soon as I saw the fish leap. I found by opening the lens 1 and 1/3 to 1 full stop gave me the best results. The time of day varied from midday to dusk.
