My 1st time ever on a Airplane. LIS/SID/Bissau.
What an adventure for a boy of 11! Alone! As this was almost a military flight, not even UC service.
A night flight, 3 hours to Sal, 1 hour stop outside the aicraft, as there was no airport so to say at the time! After, a short hop of 1 hour to Bissau, arriving already at daytime.
I was going to stay some months with my Father, so, 1 of my Uncles took me to the airplane, and asked the 2nd Lieutenant sitting next to me, in the last row, to keep an eye for me.
I remember an eventless flight, no turbulence whatsoever. As a young boy, I was very surprised how big the place was, and how powerful at TO. I could barelly lift my feet of the floor!

Seeing this 727 brings back many memories for me as well! A fairly durable aircraft that also had its share of problems over the years. V

Dear Dan: You were 3 years old and you don't remember? Fortunately, or unfortunately, I am cursed with an unforgiven memory! My 1st recollections were at the age of 1 1/2, when my Father came on holidays from his commission in India! I cannot forget him leaving the DC-4, and the plane 'vomiting' the suitcases from the nose!
At this very same Airport...

At least you were old enough to remember it. My first flight was on a United DC-8 when we moved from New York to Denver in 1960. My dad had come to Denver previously to get a job, arrange a house, etc. I do remember the end of the flight when he was allowed to come on the plane and help my mom, 2 sisters ( one of which was just a couple months old) and me get off the plane.
