Ahmed The Bedouin: The Real One

Ras Um Sid, Sinai, Egypt

Where can he be now? I doubt still alive...

Look at the photo: How things have changed: The landscape, and the smile of the inhabitants...
Is this progress?...

This shy, but very witty Bedouin boy was our guide for some days! I just wonder what ever happened to him after all those years, in that very troubled place in the World...

The Bedouins were an ancient race.
They survived many civilizations before, for more than 3000 years: the Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans.
But they could no survive modern day capitalism brought to them by the Israelis, when they occupied the Sinai...
They lost their land, their culture, their identity...
...for money, they do not know how to use...
Just look at the Google satellite photo! When this was done, the place was an absolute desert, beautiful and wild... not a single soul around!
Is this progress?
