This has an amazing story:
A group of very young kids were playing in a very dark Jerusalem alley. One of them was quite blond, as some very pure Arabs can be. He was playing the American Cow-boy and had a toy gun. I could watch them, for a while, and take some photos. I was alone at the moment. But suddenly, my Palestinian guide (well, kind of bodyguard) saw the gun and froze! He thought it was a real gun!
Promptly, and without many words he exchanged the gun for a lollypop.
The boy couldn't be happier!
Later, in the car, he confessed he was really worried, showing me the gun! In fact, it was a pretty good, toy imitation... He said the little boy could have been killed (happened before, so many times), and in any way, they do not like young boys using guns, even as toys...
What a lesson! I was really enlightened...
