Bent's Old Fort

This NPS Site is an authentically detailed reconstruction of an 1833 'fort' and fur trading post built along the Arkansas River in eastern Colorado.
Bent's Old Fort was a self-sufficient 'outpost of civilization', located 600 miles from the nearest American city,
near the Santa Fe trail and near, what was at that time, the U.S.-Mexico border.

For more information, see the NPS web site: < http://www.nps.gov/beol/index.htm
