On the afternoon we arrived, and for the next two days, we drove our car in from Gardiner, MT., through Mammoth Hot Springs area and on into Lamar Valley. This road is kept open to cars all year as it is the only way in and out of Cook City, MT., which is just outside the NE corner of the park, in the winter. Lamar Valley also happens to be a great place to look for wildlife!
