After leaving Death Valley National Park on March 19th, we left via the West entrance and ended up in US 395 heading North. When we got to Lone Pine, CA, we decided to stop at the Whitney Portal Store to look around. After that we headed up the Whitney Portal Road, even though we knew the last three miles were closed and there was a detour to even get to where the road is closed. However, it was well worth the side trip as you can see from the photos below!
