Red Canyon, Dixie National Forest, Utah April 2021
After our hikes in Kodachrome Basin State Park, we went back to our trailer and called Goblin Valley State Park. We were told that unless we were there before 10 in the morning or after 4 in the afternoon, we should plan on waiting up to 3 hours to get into the park (this was Easter weekend). So we decided we would move the trailer the next morning to Green River, Utah, and visiting Goblin Valley from there. So, with those reservations in place, we decided that since it was still early afternoon, we would drive back to near Panguitch, Utah, to go to Red Canyon. It is in Dixie National Forest, which is part or the US Forest Service. When driving from Panguitch to Bryce Canyon NP, you go through several Red Rock “arches” (I think they blasted through the rock to make the arches). We didn’t go that far back, but instead stopped at the visitor center. There, a ranger suggested the Pink Ledges Trail, which started at the end of the parking lot and looped back to the visitor center in just over a half mile. Plus, the trail, like most trails there allowed dogs (on leash), so that is what we took, and enjoyed!
