These shots are from a quick one day trip to the coast and were taken at the Boiler Bay turnout and Depoe Bay, with my D300s and new 70-200 VR II. It was a very nice sunny day, with large waves due to an approaching storm, plus strong winds blowing out to sea. Because of the strong wind, the tops of the waves were blown back into a mist behind the waves. At first, I went out to the end of the Boiler Bay turnout and took shots of the waves there. On the way of walking back along the bay side, I noticed that at the right angle, I could see rainbow colors in the mist. Later I also took some from the seawall in Depoe Bay. All of the photos were taken in less than an hour. Most supported by a bean bag and others hand held.
At first the waves seemed repetitive. But the longer I looked, subtle differences appeared. Gradually, I was drawn into its motion, as if each photo was another wave coming. Finally, I experienced an almost hypnotic effect. A very unique gallery. You have my vote.
