While photographing Desert Blooms, I found this nest in a cactus a couple of blocks from my home. I returned every few days to add another photo or two. Of the three original eggs, one never hatched, and unfortunately, the first chick that hatched disappeared at one point, with no trace! Currently, in the last photo the chicks looks like it will soon be ready to leave the nest! The image number gives the date, e.g. Nest0405a.jpg was shot on April 5th (2004). All images are handheld with my D70 and 70-200VR. A couple also have the Canon 500D close-up filter on the front.
