The road to the top of Mt. Evans takes you up to 14,240 feet. From there, you can hike the 1/4 mile Summit Trail to the top of Mt. Evans at 14,265 feet! This is what we were planning on doing. However, The top 5 miles of the road was closed, so we could only get up to Summit Lake at 12,830 feet. Disappointing, but it was still worth going here! We were able to hike the 1.5 mile M. Walter Pesman Trail through the Bristlecone Forest (Dixon and I hiked from the bottom up, 612 feet, while Linda and Janet hiked it from the top down). Also saw some female Bighorn Sheep near Summit Lake.
