This was a two night trip to Mt. Rainier, staying at the National Park Inn at Longmire, within the park. It was supposed to be partly sunny on Saturday and sunny on Sunday. These are the only two days a week the road up to Paradise is open, due to a lack of drivers for their snowplows (though they are trying to hire more). Unfortunately, though we saw the mountain from outside the park, on the way in, and briefly the next morning, and that was it. We did drive up to Paradise on Saturday, but the mountain was totally covered by clouds. Then in the afternoon, heavy snow started falling. We saw several cars on the way down having trouble on the road and rangers were guiding people around them. By the time we got back down to the Inn, it was snowing heavily there too. While we were dissapointed at not seeing more of the mountain, we still enjoyed the weekend by hiking around the Longmire Meadow and around the area of the Inn. The heavy snow made things really beautiful.
