On our way back up Trail Ridge Road. The two small lakes near the center are called Sheep Lakes as Bighorn Sheep (mostly ewes) frequently come down into this area. The area around and just below the lakes is Horseshoe Park where we have been frequently seeing elk. The light colored area at the left of the image is from a flood on July 15, 1987. Most of the force of the flook went to filling Horseshoe Park, but it still had enough water to bury nearby Estes Park with six feet of water!
