I saw this referenced somewhere on the internet and when I searched, I found Skagit River Eagle Tours, www.skagiteagles.com. Was able to convince my wife & friends to come as well as they have propane heaters in their boat! So, a total of six of us camped for two nights in our trailers at Howard Miller Steelhead Park, in Rockport, Washington for the nights of December 5th and 6th, 2016. It is a very nice campground right on the Skagit River, and right next to where they pick us up for the trip the morning of December 6th. Both nights were very cold, waking up to 23 degrees F on the 6th and 16 degrees on the 7th. However, both days were sunny or partly sunny. The trip was great and their guide, Scott, would use the oars to help get us in good positions, and rotate the boat while eagles flew by to help us get shots. I will admit that of the 1451 shots I took, I threw out about 2/3 of them as they were blurry! Focusing with a long lens (Nikon 200-500), on a crop body (Nikon D500) while in a moving boat on the river is difficult. However, I am very happy with the shots I did get! There were definitely plenty of Bald Eagles, as well as some Merganser Ducks, a couple of Great Blue Heron, and even a Coyote.
A great gallery. Actions of the eagles and herons are captured amazingly beautiful. Light is excellent.Images are clean and sharp. I can feel the chill and freshness of the environment you display in this gallery as if I am there. V
