The portion of US 550 between Durango, CO and Ouray, CO is referred to as the Million Dollar Highway. Not sure where the name came from, but it is a beautiful drive. In our case, we ran into fog and rain as we proceeded North of Silverton, so the section from Silverton to Ouray is not covered here. From a previous trip a long time ago, I know that is a great section as well!
