Another quick trip to Alaska, again using free air miles! This time we flew to Fairbanks, spent one night there, then took the train to Denali National Park, and about a 7 hour bus ride to Camp Denali. We stayed 3 nights at Camp Denali, which is a set of rustic cabins about 93 miles inside the park. The cabins had a wood burning stove, private outhouse, and running water (faucet) outside the cabin! All meals, plus guided walks, and lots of free use equipment included. It was rustic, but fantastic! Then at the end of our stay, the bus ride back out, train to Fairbanks, and our flight home the next morning. While we expected some fall colors in Denali, it turned out we hit it perfect! Bright yellows, reds, and oranges everywhere. Spectacular! We had saome rain, but nowhere near what was predicted, so we did fine with weather as well. Unfortunately, no Northern Lights while we were there, but still had a really great time!
Thanks for posting those wonderful pictures of Alaska. Reminds me of my summer college vacation working in the AFI gold mines, north of Fairbanks, in 1953 with all the wolves, bear and cariboos wandering around. Peter Clark
