This NM is just East of I-17 between Phoenix and Camp Verde, Arizona. We took the Bloody Basin Road exit off of I-17 on the way home. Kevin wanted to visit some ancient ruins that he had found online. It was a long way in on first a dirt road, then a smaller one, and a smaller one, and eventually a really small one, but we got to them! Then by the time we got back to I-17, it was closed due to a wildfire and we had to head back up north to Camp Verde and get back to Phoenix via Payson. Made for about a 3 hour detour!. While there is actually some water in the Agua Fria river year round, there is very little in the summer, except after a monsoon rain. There is one signed area of ruins in the park, but a good number of others that are unmarked and it is one of those that Kevin wanted to visit.
