These are pictures showing the work done during an underwater archaeology expedition sponsored by the National Geographic Society and the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Dr. George Bass. The effort was to understand the structure of a maritime vessel of the Byzantine era ~ 626 A.D. I was the chief diver and field photographer during my participation in this event.
These pictures are from slides that are over 40 years old, so please excuse the defects that I was unable to remove in PhotoShop.
