April 24

This image depicts the Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin's famed airship hangers. Note the size of
the building compared to bulldozer in front of it! This field was originally built as a blimp base
in 1942 as Santa Ana Naval Air Station. At one time it could house 6 blimps!!! At its peak, it also
housed over 100 helicopters! This building has also been used in a 007 James Bond movie and other TV
show like the X-Files and JAG.

I've been trying numerous time to get the best angle, best place to take this hanger, but every time
I failed to show how massive this building is, because there was nothing to compare it to, but
luckily this time I had the trucks and bulldozers to compare to its relative size! But this proved
to be a hard image to get because the only way to capture this view was to stand from the
highway/road, where cars are traveling 60+ mphs, and there's no place to stop and park. So I took
this image while driving back to work with one hand one the road, about 50mph, but there were no
cars in sight, just took like 7 images, hoping one would be good. And here it is!

Wow, that is huge.
I can see where something this size would be hard to capture to scale.
