I had 2 bird at my hummingbird feeder trying to get sugar water out and I can't identify the birds.They were the color tan of the female cardinal, but smaller, same size beak but not red, and had a faint red v on their chest. No outstanding markings or other colors. Help?

I have seen at least 7 of the rosebreasted grosbeaks in my yard feeding (4-28-2007). Are they common to southeast missouri? I have never seen one before and they are with the females as well.
