pond circle

North Providence, RI

A lesser-known cousin of crop circles, pond circles are less elaborate but appear with equal suddenness and mysteriousness. It is believed (if you believe *them*) that the cause is a combined effect of frozen swamp gas, ball lightning and disturbed lone gunmen. Conspiracy theorists theorize a conspiracy, behind which are certain organizations too incompetent to pass an annual budget without shutting themselves down but somehow able to control a vast and unknowable universe of phenomena. Believe who you will; the truth is out there.

I'm reassured Scully is on her way, sometimes the power of sheer bloody-minded doubt can disarm phenomena like this. Assuming they have arms, which this one doesn't unless they are beneath the surface.

Dave, your magnetic anomaly theory is polarizing the community here. We've also heard reports of a certain northern nation test-flighting a so-called Jolly Old Elf (JOE), and that he dropped a "package" on this spot. We're preparing divers to go in in the spring. Er, summer. Also, I'm not nor have I ever been a member of the conspiracy party. There are shadowy forces at work that would have you think otherwise. The truth is out there.

The first thing that came to mind upon reading "pond circle" was "crop circle." The ESP training is paying off, finally. Are you a member of a conspiracy that theorizes that conspiracy theorists theorize a conspiracy about this? I smell a conspiracy to avoid the truth: magnetic anomalies. Update to Lee's information: Scully was delayed by my request to discuss aura cavities. If it were not for all these frightening subjects, I would be apt to say something nice about this nicely-done photo of ghastly weather.
