QE2's blue ensign (as opposed to red) reflects her service as a Royal Navy reserve ship. In the early 1980's QE2 and P&O's flagship Canberra (now retired) both saw brief service in the Falklands.

So far Queen Mary 2 is the only Cunard flagship since the early 1900's not to see war service.
