A friendly common eider (ok, just unwilling to move) on the rock jetty in Provincetown. What I initially took for plumpness is the fine down eiders are known for. His kind are diving champions. His appearance is deceiving; when I look at him the word "hydrodynamic" doesn't even trudge laboriously to mind.
