Waterfire, the original living art installation by Barnaby Jones, takes place on various weekend nights during the warm months, and draws quite a crowd to its carnival atmosphere. It was a major step in repopulating Providence's nighttime streets after a long period of decline, and was introduced under Providence's iconic mayor, Buddy Cianci.
