It was J. D. Salinger's Holden Caufield in Catcher in the Rye who famously worried about where the Central Park ducks go when the pond is frozen. Every time I wonder how waterfowl keep warm I think about that. So long, Mr. Salinger. The ducks are back in the pond, at least for now.

John, I've spent more enjoyable hours smashing my thumb with a hammer. A couple hundred odd pages of young male angst with a surprise ending: there was no point to any of it. On top of that, it was too short.

Read the book a long time ago, did not think much of it, just another story. Glad I am not a duck, life gets really tough sometimes.
