Newport, RI

QE2's last visit to Newport. She sailed off to Dubai in November 2008 to become a luxury hotel, but plans never materialized. Last I heard she might be heading to South Africa instead.

Here's a recent article that seems to have been written because the reporter had to turn something in: http://money.cnn.com/2010/02/09/news/economy/Dubai_asset_sales/index.htm?hpt=Sbin She may or may not be up for sale. Grain of salt recommended: the author states she was once the "largest passenger ship in existence." She was many things, but never the largest.

The scrap yard, thats awful, better to be scuttled. Did you ever see the film "The Ship that Died of Shame" I think that applies here.
