Oriental bittersweet

North Providence, RI

The leaves and berries start out light green, but are a riot of yellow by early fall. This vine will quickly cover and kill trees surrounding it. The trees along this part of the pond are infested with it. The vines are up to two inches or more thick, and they twist themselves tightly around branches, trunks vines and anything else they can squeeze the life out of. If you see this sprouting in your yard, get rid of it!

The droplets make this image. That vine seems as pernicious as ivy!
