Royal Odyssey sailed for Royal Cruise Line from 1981-1988. RCL gave her a single funnel to replace the original side-by-side twin funnels.
She was built for Zim Israel Line as Shalom in 1964; in 1967 she became Deutsche Atlantik's Hanseatic; and from 1973-1981 she was Home Lines' Doric.
In 1988 she was sold to Regency Cruises as Regent Sun. Regency collapsed dramatically in 1995, and their ships were seized by authorities. Although there have been rumors she'd become a hotel, nothing has come of it and she remains out of service.
